Starburst is a regional mentoring program for young people in regional and remote Queensland who are looking for an opportunity to get their creative ideas off the ground.
Through Starburst you can …
- Find out about careers in the arts and creative industries.
- Plan and organise a creative project.
- Connect with other creative young people and organisations that can support you.
- Talk to a professional working in the arts about what they do and how they got there.
- Get things happening in your local area.
If you are …
- 15-30 years of age;
- Living in regional or remote Queensland;
- Interested in music, art, craft, writing, theatre, dance, film or new media, putting on gigs or anything else creative; and
- Running a creative project, wanting to get something off the ground, interested in working in the arts or needing to make industry connections
… then Starburst is for you.
The 2010 Starburst Regional Mentoring Program participants have been selected and will be annouced shortly.
Starburst is an initiative of arts culture + me, the Queensland Government’s Children and Young People in the Arts Action Plan 2008/11, and artbeat, the Queensland Government’s Regional Arts and and Culture Strategy 2010-2014. Starburst is funded by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and managed by the state’s peack body for young people in the arts – Youth Arts Queensland – in collaboration with regional partners Crossroad Arts, Human Ventures, Perc Tucker Regional Gallery and La Luna Youth Arts.
